Cora is a 4 yr old (born March 1, 2015), spayed female Carolina dog. Cora is a very bright dog but she comes with some challenges and restrictions. She was spayed at about 2 years old and is current on her vaccinations. The last thing I want to do is to have to find her a new home, but she fights with our boxer. The situation is unfair to everyone. Cora spends most of her time in a kennel. She literally jumps for joy when she gets out. I want her to have a better life. One where she can live up to her potential.
Cora would do best as the only pet. She wants to be dominate with dogs and she will chase a cat. We had a horse which she barked at. Other than that she hasn’t been exposed to other livestock.
She is protective of her people and property. Cora may do better with a man or, perhaps a strong willed woman. In any case, they should have successful experience with a primitive or challenging breed.
Now for Cora’s other side. She is an absolute delight and loyal friend. I let her off leash when we are in the woods. She loves it, sticks with me, and helps find the best way through the forest.
We did work on truffle hunting. She made good progress, but I didn’t have enough time to spend for her to become proficient.
She is very bright and is familiar with many words. She expects you to understand her language as well. She has several different barks, etc which have specific meanings. She loves to play and run, so a fenced yard would be great. Because she is smart she loves training and challenges. She has an excellent sense of humor.
If you are interested in adopting Cora, please contact the owner directly. Inquiries for adoption will follow with some interview questions and a possible two month trial.
