Agility Classes Agility is a fast-paced sport and is as much fun for the
dog as it is for the owner. Dogs
are taught to race through a course of jumps, tunnels, A-frame, dog walk beam
and teeter-totter. This is an
activity the whole family can enjoy.
Dogs of all types and sizes, purebred and mutt compete together. It’s just about the most fun a dog
can have with its people! We
offer the following agility classes. Note: To
facilitate the space needed, most of our Agility classes are held in our
separate Monmouth training building. Confidence Course #1 Confidence Course #1
is an entry-level session. Foundation
behaviors and confidence exercises that are needed for the sport of agility
will be introduced, taught and practiced. Pre-requisite:
Beginner Obedience or the equivalent. This class is held at the Best Friends school building in
Corvallis. Confidence Course #2 In Confidence Course
#2 we will continue to progress with foundation behaviors and confidence
exercises needed for the sport of agility. Pre-requisite:
Confidence Course #1.
This class is held at the Best Friends school building in Corvallis. Introduction To Agility This class teaches the
specialized skills needed to work your dog safely on agility equipment. Your dog will become familiar and
comfortable with each piece of equipment and begin targeting for speed and
accuracy. Includes targeting,
directionals, sequencing, and proper contact performance. This class is held in Monmouth, OR. Agility Skills Sequencing and handling skills are emphasized. Includes targeting, directionals and proper contact performance. This class is held in Monmouth, OR. Starter/Novice Agility This is a preparatory class for Starter/Novice level competition. There is extended emphasis on handling skills, targeting, directionals, sequencing and proper contact performance. This class is held in Monmouth, OR. Novice/Open Agility For students who are competing at the Novice/Open level. This class is held in Monmouth, OR. Introduction to Agility
Distance Work Developing the foundation for distance work in Agility. For handlers and dogs of any experience level (starting dogs through currently competing dogs – all dogs should have recall skills). This class is held in Monmouth, OR. Agility Distance Work Applying foundation skills to sequencing. For handlers and dogs who have successfully completed the Introduction to Agility Distance Work class.
